Text of " Basque Fire", new CD of Betagarri

1. NORA JOAN ZIREN? Where did they go? A night, a thousand hours A fear in the moon those Who never arrived are Those who never went those Who never went a thousand stars, Two eyes, the worst side of darkness is it calls Without knocking What we really are We really are a life, A thousand years happiness Or without you it is hard for me To close my eyes And see nothing at all See nothing at all there Were a thousand, One please which And how i don't mind Which or where which Or where they can go to heaven To your heaven Where did they go, Where did they go if we ever had them at all? Where did our dreams go? Where did they go, Where did they go if they were ever ours to have? Where did they go, our dreams? A thousand lights, two shadows Tell me it is a lie That it has all been a bad dream And we are still asleep Still asleep You and i said a thousand times The night being our witness That dreams were possible Were possible.

2.HEMEN ERDIAN Here in the middle You know fine well where the roads go to And from and it's fine by me That you make your choice But be clear the straight road is the only one And i'll tell you here what road And what is straight ooh! You are stuck at the crossroads ooh! And you cannot stop here in the middle It's just fine we'll try once again Think calmly take all the time You need look at the road the rest have taken And think what is best for everybody ooh! You are stuck at the crossroads ooh! And you cannot stop here in the middle We are sorry time is up, Your chances for choosing are over And you haven't chosen the road I offered You are against so you are not with me ooh! You are stuck at the crossroads ooh! And you cannot stop here in the middle

3. BOOM EGIN ETA KRASH!!! To boom and crash!!! Tic tac my heart, the head is bubbling. Opening hope's door. Thousands of thoughts in an instant, go you all away from here, please. I am going to explode, I know who I am, always obeying and fulfilling orders. Yesterday I was a project of the society and today I am dreaming the future.
The clock takes me, last trip! Warm darkness, light blocks up! The clock takes me, last trip! Clear darkness, all blind persons! To boom and crash! To boom and crash! Fuck off!!
Less and less in order that the moment comes, always prepare to be a protagonist. When the moment comes, everything was ended, I close the eyes to turn them to opening. Black, red, blue, green? Which will be? The doubt of cutting, the honor is yours. If you have the response here have you the opportunity Which? Which? Which? Which color?

4. ARREN ERRO ZAHARRA Male’s old root There are lots of interesting things in the Basque Country, Fortunately, that’s our nation. As anywhere, you can also find misery but above all, there are amazing things.
Our ancestors left their lovely language to us, isn’t Basque so lovely? But they are even more special, and lovely, the girls you can only find in the Basque Country!
Being humans, existing is the difficulty. Here it’s! We’re proud! Our burnt males’ old root! Woman, me, you, baby, give your modest silence! Always full, always two, always with power!
The victory in that dignitiy’s war will never be the longest way straight ahead. There’s no peace that wants to fight, Let’s do what each one of us must do.

5. LANA (EGUNEZ JOAN ETA GAUEZ ETORRI) work (going in the morning and coming back at night). Going in the morning and coming back at night, You almost have no time to live. You spend your live Putting up with your boss’ violence.
You have to keep your family going, To live in this society,
It’s a nuisance living for that, Your life is going from the factory to home and from home to the factory.
Work, working is The strongest punishment. Work, working. We have to be slaves
Work, working.
If you don’t want to be a slave of your work, Stand up against the system,
Let young students and women build a society
That is based on equality.
Long live Lenin and Marxism! Long live worker’s union! Our goal is to get rid of capitalism That’s our desire, our biggest dream.
If someday, somewhere, we had something of our own Isn’t it our right to get what is ours? Let’s stand up then, in a fight Women /men are better than males / females.

6. EL PERIODIQUERITO The Newspaper Seller Once upon a time there was a Periodiquerito. He was so poor that he only could sell old newspapers as he hadn’t enough money to buy the new ones. People didn’t buy his newspapers because they were old and they wanted the new papers. The Periodiquerito didn’t sell anything and he had been storing more and more old newspapers. That’s when the periodiquerito opened a paper recycling factory and he became rich. He bought all the news agencies, he forbade publishing actual news and he forced people to read news from the past. You can read in today’s newspapers that the Zapatistas are arriving to Mexico city and they’ll meet the Villistas there. The date can’t be read correctly, but it seems to be 1914 or 1997. ¡Tam-tam!
Sub Comandante Insurgente "Marcos" (Insurgent Sub Commander Marcos)

7. XX-MENDEKO IZURRITEA The plague of the 20th century Acquired immune deficiency syndrome Today, here, there and all around the world Is killing people And we can’t manage to cope with it. Aids!! We’re scared of freedom Aids!! Waiting to fall down into the precipice Aids!! The enemy who lives next to us Aids!! The plague of the 20th century! We’ll loose many friends On the way, We don’t know why, Porquoi, they caught it. If you aren’t homosexual or you don’t take heroin don’t think
You can catch it someday, because you are your own.
But if you’re young, Don’t think of limiting sex, Use prevention to avoid it, Let’s have sex with others, Let’s forget our prejudices.

8. GORA BEHERAK Ups and downs If on opening your eyes Darkness predominates Listen to your own heartbeats As they carry on there
When night is darkest Dawn is arriving Closed eyes see The brightness of the inside Often things are the opposite Of what we would like them to be It seems hard but it is not easy To carry on Carry on to carry on oohh! With life Resist resist oohh! Take the risk!
There are ups and downs Carrying on is in your hands There are ups and downs Don't get lost on the road You're not alone on the road
9. NORK ESANGO DIT NOLA? Who will tell me how? Today we're here Looking at each other as usual Today we're here Wanting to say everything to each other But saying nothing Today we're transforming Thoughts to dreams Today going crazy Because of lack of courage
When will I know? Who will tell me how To come to you and say to you, I love you? When will I know? Who will tell me how? Is there something between us?
Today we are Asking each other What we are doing As if there were time to spare Tell me now That you want to be mine And I will be yours Forever and ever.

10. ETORKIZUN LATZA Fucked-up future The dawn has gone out now Darkness rules In memories my town, My mind, my people A clear patch tries to break through Another day is here again I see the trail on the wall and Watching myself in the mirror
Fucked-up future While the storm passes Living for now Never covered up always naked There was news of you yesterday On reading the writing I wet the paper With bitter tears I am looking at the sky It looks like it wants to break Waiting for new beams Feeling the pulse of the people It's difficult for me to remember Iwould like to have you in my arms It hurts me when I recall The silence of your tears Tell me it's not true The wall of this nightmare Ask the new sun Where our life is left
11. GAZTERI GORRIA Red youth Red youth, new young people Our day, our future is here Hurrah for ours And up our youth Today's fight tomorrow's victory  As red as the dawn And with a whole life ahead of us Just as our land needs water Our people need us And if the sky is dark We'll fill it with new stars
