On Karolina’s debut album, the tracks are filled with passion and energetic rhythms which cannot let you be seated all the time. Karolina mixes Arabic scales with Latin sounds, drum’n’base with jazz. And so is her single and the clip announcing her debut record – “Prayer”. The song can literally magnetize its audience.
Karolina Glazer is recognized as the rising star of Polish jazz vocalism. She specializes in an instrumental approach to voice and directs a lot of her attention to scat improvisation. Karolina is a vocalist, composer, arranger and producer. In 2007 she represented Poland in an International Jazz Vocalists Contest „Lady Summertime” in Finland. In July’s edition of an American monthly she was recognized as one of the five most promising vocalists in the world. She experiments with the sound of her vocal by using her great imagination and a 4-octave scale. She is giving concerts with her Quintet, which includes the most prominent musicians of young generation. Her music is so supernatural that only a few people would believe it comes from Poland. The sounds she creates and sings are so exceptional and carry a tender form and energy. However, everybody unanimously defines her tracks as heavenly. Her voice calms down, forces to stop in this rushed world and reflect upon the most important aspects. And so is her single and the clip announcing her debut record. “Prayer” lets us take a breathe and magnetizes. On the other hand, we can hear her other tracks filled with passion and energetic rhythms which cannot let you be seated all the time. Karolina mixes Arabic scales with Latin sounds, drum’n’base with jazz.
She calls herself “a white woman with a white voice” observing the world and its sounds. It gives her inspiration and a sense for her musical search, and makes her the citizen of the world. Studying the musical cultures of the world is her passion; you can hear it in an every sound she sings. A concert of Karolina Glazer’s Normal Quintet is a journey across various cultural spots of the world combined with harmony and jazz tradition. She strives towards Nu Jazz; drum’n’base connected with Arabic scales, Latin salsa with innovative sounds and house beat joined with jazz improvisation.
A video clip to Karolina Glazer’s recording called ,,Prayer” has been created. It is an announcement of her debut record coming out fall 2009. The video clip is in a white and black tone. It has been recored in HD and 16/9mm technology. The clip is the creation of Karolina Glazer (concept and scenario), Marlena Witek (visagiste and stylization), Krzysztof Szopa (camerawork and montage), Małgorzata Michalik (lights and photographs) and Ewa Kocur (hair-do).
As Karolina says: „The clip was created to a track that opposes the pop-cultural trends. Its central theme is a prayer; that is why we searched for such a form of expressions which would be far from an another colorful set of pictures quickly flashing in front of our eyes. The form and content of a prayer should absorb and hypnotize us, make us stop and wander.”
