music

The album is a continuation of the Moscow Art Trio’s aesthetic concept, which provides for equal participation of Arkady Shilkloper, a horn player with a background in classical music, the folk singer and clarinetist Sergey Starostin, and Alperin, who refers to himself as “a kind of improvising pianist”. Together they allow for the sense of pleasure, humor and technical brilliance to come into our ears.

Product Description

The new CD with the unpretentious title Music  is a continuation of the Moscow Art Trio’s aesthetic concept, which provides for equal participation by Arkady Shilkloper, a horn player with a background in classical music, the folk singer and clarinettist Sergey Starostin and Alperin, who refers to himself as “a kind of improvising pianist” – and allowing for the sense of pleasure and humour and the technical brilliance we have come to associate with this group.

The Moscow Art Trio is one of the most exciting formations of New Jazz. The borders between jazz, folk and classical music have become irrelevant. With a playful sense of humour, elements of highly differing origins have been processed into something completely new.

As the Frankfurter Rundschau remarked, “Alperin’s compositions cannot be classified according to genre …they owe as much to Bartok and Schnittke as they do to Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett.
